Word

“70% of pastors stop studying the Scripture for themselves at the age of 35.”

- Dr. J. Robert Clinton

you will be a teacher of my word

Pastor John Teter became a Christian May 8, 1992. When God called John out of darkness, Los Angeles was in flames due to the Rodney King riots. Upon his conversion, John sensed that God would use him to bring healing and unity among race and class divisions in Los Angeles.

Five days into his conversion he attended a college group BBQ at a pastor’s home. He was brand new to the Christian faith. When the group began to worship, he did not know there was Christian music. He was shocked and intimidated when the pastor said it was time to prophecy and said, “John, please stand up.” John stood up and received the Word of the Lord. Though John had never met the man of God, the pastor delivered intimate details about John’s youth, family pain and confirmed his conversion (five days before). He then went on to deliver a prophecy about John‘s future ministry: “Thus says the Lord: John Teter, you will be a teacher of my word.”

As a reminder of the prophecy, a church servant gave John an audio tape of the prophecy. This is a daily reminder for him (Just as Timothy was given the gift of teaching to prophecy in the laying on of hands (1 Timothy 4:14), that he was rescued by God to study, teach and preach the Word of God.

feed my sheep

Herman Melville once wrote “The strength of a city is based on the strength of her church. And the strength of the church is based on the strength of her pulpit.” Sadly, if Dr. Clinton’s research is true, 7/10 churches today are built on shaky pulpits. If the pastor does not eat, how will the sheep be fed? May it not be so with Holy Faith Fellowship. Every one of us need more grace and truth. Pastor John Teter and the Holy Faith teaching team is committed to feeding the saints of Holy Faith Fellowship a strong Biblical diet.

Pastor John has preached to 20 people in a living room and to 20,000 in arenas. In an age of shallow messages, Pastor John joyfully delivers sermons anchored in the Word, with engaging cultural on-ramps that will help youth and non-Christians understand the Word. We are confident you will be blessed  and deepen in your relationship with Jesus as you sit under the Holy Faith pulpit.

CORE BOOK STUDY

Disciples are called to ‘Live in the Book.’ Here at Holy Faith Fellowship we equip disciples to master the Bible over the course of their lifetime. There are four levels of Bible mastery: (1) Devotions; (2) Familiar; (3) Discipleship topics; (4) Core book study. We train adults and youth through ‘The Jury Style Bible Study.’ Luke writes that Bereans were the most noble church (Acts 17:11) because they studied the Word for themselves.

Each week Holy Faith Fellowship calls disciples to ‘Live in the Text’ by studying the same passage in personal devotions, weekly Life Groups, and then we conclude the Word that week with the same text preached in Sunday worship. We have found this to be quite helpful for those who are new to church.
