EVANGELISM

HOW, NOT WHY

Jesus exhorts Nicodemus that unless he is born again he will never enter the Kingdom of God. The great teacher of Israel does not push back on the need for new birth, but instead asks “How these things can be?” (John 3:10). After twenty-five years of active evangelism learning and leadership, Pastor John is confident Holy Faith Fellowship has a strong answer to the question ‘How do our post-Christian friends become disciples of Jesus of Nazareth?”

We have tested and trained process conversion for 25+ years in America, Asia and Africa. The pattern is four-fold: (1) Friendship: Our non-believer friends trust us and like us; (2) Experience: Non-believers experience God’s love and power; (3) Word: Non-believers learn truth from the Bible; (4) Disciple: Our friend commits to following Jesus. Each of these four steps are trainable ministry tasks.

Evangelism is suppossed to be hard

One of our 7 core habits is evangelism. 18% of the global Christian church operates in the spiritual gift of evangelism. The central thrust of the gift is to deliver the gospel to unbelieving sinners so that they become disciples of Jesus. Those who have been given the gift experience two graces: (1) Conversations start easier; (2) Public evangelism and larger circles of influence. Paul writes to Timothy, the young pastor in Ephesus, to make sure that all believers, not just those with the gift, do the hard work of evangelism. In our post-Christian world, Holy Faith Fellowship is committed to equipping all of our saints to engage in the hard work of friendship evangelism.

BIBLICAL & CULTURALLY RELEVANT

Is the good news we share good news to those who hear our message? The church is like a freeway of faith. Many non-Christians are on the surface street wanting to enter into faith. But there are no on-ramps. We have created Jesus, Michael & Mamba to create an on-ramp for our friends who like hoops and sneakers. We believe our public discussions will build spiritual trust, which will lead non-believers into the powerful force field of God’s Word!
