The Most Important Church in the Bible

What is the most important church in the Bible? We believe it is the church at Antioch (Acts 11:19-31; 13:1-3) for three reasons. First, it was the first truly multi-ethnic church. Pentecost tongues of fire and unity of language was the preview. The Antioch church lead by a Jewish-Gentile staff team is the fulfillment. Second, Antioch is where church planting began. When Barnabas and Saul were called to planting, a new ministry model was born. And most importantly, the church at Antioch is where Barnabas personally recruited and intensively mentored Paul for apostolic ministry.

Pastor John operates in the apostleship gift. The four functions of the gift are: (1) Plant churches; (2) Train leaders; (3) Fight heresy; (4) Raise funds. Antioch, the leadership development and church planting wing of Holy Faith Fellowship,  was formed in 2015.  The vision has always been leaders and church plants.

Make Leaders

Dr. Teter is one of Dr. J. Robert Clinton’s 18 ‘Legacy Disciples.’ In 2014, Bobby entrusted his life’s work of leadership emergence theory to John and Becky gave him the charge: “Make leaders!” For ten years, the Teters have been a guy and a girl in a garage, making what they need to develop leaders. The Clinton family has commissioned John to write the dynamic equivalency of the leadership classic The Making of a Leader. In 2027 they are unveiling their version of Clinton leadership theory. Only 1/3 Christian leaders finish well. John is trying to do something about that!

Plant Churches

Pastor John served for 5 years as the Director of Church Planting for the Evangelical Covenant Church denomination. During his leadership he oversaw 100+ new churches. He pioneered new a new church planting model in Hong Kong, which included signs & wonders in the poorest district of the city. Antioch has gone on to provide church plant coach and intensive mentoring. One of Dr. Teter's mantras is 'The more informal the training, the more powerful the impact.' Antioch has helped plant 15 new churches. The Antioch church planter mentoring circle includes planters from Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles, Indiana, Tokyo, and Nairobi.
